As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, COBA is proud to announce a significant upgrade to our waste management system. We are implementing new measures to improve recycling efficiency and reduce general waste, reinforcing our environmental values. We’ve partnered with a waste reduction company, that aims to be the benchmark company for ecological transformation. We now have dedicated skip and Individual recycling bins throughout the site.
New Waste Management System
The key waste collection initiatives will be:
- General Waste Management: A new skip will be introduced for general waste. Proper general waste management ensures that non-recyclable materials are disposed of responsibly, reducing landfill accumulation and the environmental impact of waste decomposition.
- Cardboard and Paper Recycling: A dedicated skip for cardboard and paper. Recycling paper and cardboard reduces deforestation, conserves energy, and minimizes pollution associated with producing new paper products.
Further waste management improvements will be introduced:
- Plastic Recycling: Properly recycling plastics prevents them from entering landfills and oceans, where they pose a serious threat to wildlife and ecosystems. Recycling also reduces the need for virgin plastic production, which lowers carbon emissions.
- Internal Recycling Bins:
- These bins make it easier for employees to separate recyclable materials, ensuring more waste is diverted from landfills.
- Efficiently sorting paper and cards at the source supports a more effective recycling process.
- Wood Waste Management:
- Recycling wood waste prevents unnecessary tree harvesting and supports circular economy initiatives by repurposing wood for new applications such as composite materials and biomass energy.
A More Sustainable Future
This transformation will significantly reduce our environmental impact by diverting more waste from landfills and increasing our recycling capabilities. Managing waste effectively means fewer greenhouse gas emissions, lower pollution levels, and more responsible use of natural resources.
Recycling Guidelines – No Contamination!
To ensure the effectiveness of our new waste system, recycling skips and bins must remain uncontaminated. Improper disposal can lead to entire batches being sent to landfill instead of being recycled. We urge all employees to be vigilant in correctly segregating waste materials.
Our Environmental Commitment
COBA has long been dedicated to reducing its carbon footprint. Some of our key sustainability efforts include:
- Carbon Offsetting: COBA offsets all gas used at its Warwickshire facility, recently offsetting 9.13 tonnes over four months.
- Renewable Energy: Our facility is equipped with solar panels, reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
- Eco-Friendly Packaging: All COBA packaging is now 100% recyclable, supporting a closed-loop recycling process.
- Material Sustainability: COBA is committed to increasing the use of recycled plastic and sustainable rubber materials in our products.
- Ethical Sourcing: Our UK headquarters are Sedex members, and we uphold high ethical and environmental standards throughout our supply chain.
